Taking Children on a Chianti Wine Tour

The idea of taking children with you on a Chianti wine tour is something that you might not have thought of. First of all, a Chianti wine tour is usually something that you do as an adult, and it is usually something that only adults do. It isn’t legal for children to drink wine, and most parents don’t want their children drinking wine before they are of legal age. So, it probably hasn’t crossed your mind to take your children on your Chianti wine tour.

Unexpected

However, more and more families are traveling together nowadays, and if you are taking a trip you might not want to miss out on a Chianti wine tour just because your children are along. It might be something that you have always wanted to do, and you shouldn’t feel like you can’t take your kids on a Chianti wine tour just because they are kids. There are some things you should keep in mind though.

Educational

For most people, a Chianti wine tour isn’t about drinking wine to get drunk or party. It is about learning about the different kinds of wine and how it is made. In this regard, it can be a very educational experience for your children.

You can allow them to ask questions and learn about the process that it takes to make wine, and they will probably be fascinated by the way that wine is made and the grapes that are used in wine making. Most of the Chianti wine tour stops are going to be great about helping children learn and answering their questions.

Behavior

However, it is important to know that most people don’t expect there to be children on a Chianti wine tour. This said, you should check with the tour company to see what kind of rules they have about children. Even if you find out that children are welcome on the tours, do take the time to talk to your kids about proper behavior.

Remind them that they are going to do something that mostly adults do, and they have to be on their best behavior. It might be a good idea to trade with them, one day of Chianti wine tour in exchange for one day doing something that only kids like to do. This can help your children stay on their best behavior and avoid getting bored.
